A catheterization laboratory or cath lab is an examination room in a hospital with diagnostic imaging equipment used to visualize the arteries of the heart and the chambers of the heart and treat any stenosis or abnormality found.

The Billroth hospital’s Heart Revive Centre has a digital Cath Lab with the innovative OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) guidance systems, which are superior to the conventional angiogram. These advanced systems aid both diagnostic and interventional procedures on patients in all age groups.

Our cath lab is equipped with

  • Patient Couch
  • A floor or ceiling mounted Image intensifier
  • Set of viewing monitors
  • Realtime ECG/Blood pressure/Oxygen Saturation measurements with software to record and measure these when needed
  • Injector Pump used for imaging the Left Ventricle or Aorta
  • X-ray software for the recording and playback of the Fluoroscopy runs acquired during the procedure
  • Diagnostic Catheters
  • Guide catheters
  • Guide wires
  • Angioplasty balloons
  • Stents (drug eluting and bare metal)
  • Sheaths
  • Closure devices
  • General nursing supplies
  • Defibrillator
  • Drugs
  • Wireless Headset Systems for Cath Labs[1]
  • Recovery bays
  • Reporting station
  • Scrub area

The cath lab provides many services like

  • Coronary angioplasty or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
  • Closure of some congenital heart defects
  • Treatment of stenotic heart valves
  • Permanent and temporary pacemaker implantations
  • Electrophysiological studies such as AV node ablation
  • Rotablation of heavily calcified vessels
  • Left and right-sided pressure studies
